Terms & Conditions

1. Definitions

2. Acceptance of Terms

By depositing a watch with Horolume or submitting an enquiry via our website, you confirm that you have read and agree to these Terms. You must be aged 18 or above and legally capable of entering into a binding agreement under Malaysian law. If you are acting on behalf of another party, you confirm that you have authority to bind that party.

3. Service Description

Horolume provides watch repair and restoration workshop services for individual timepieces. Our principal services are:

  1. Quartz Care and Seal Renewal — battery cell replacement, gasket renewal, water resistance testing, and condition documentation.
  2. Mechanical Movement Servicing — disassembly, ultrasonic cleaning, lubrication, six-position regulation, timing report, and photography.
  3. Vintage Case and Dial Restoration — surface refinishing, crystal and lume work, bracelet adjustment, and full written documentation. Scope agreed by written proposal only.

Services are carried out at our workshop in Kuala Lumpur. We do not operate a postal service and do not accept watches shipped unsolicited. All watches must be deposited in person or by prior arrangement.

4. Service Terms and Scope

Scope agreement: No bench work begins until scope has been confirmed with the Client, either verbally at intake (for quartz care) or in writing via a restoration proposal (for vintage work). Mechanical servicing scope is confirmed following inspection.

Scope changes: If the watchmaker discovers additional issues during bench work that fall outside the agreed scope, we will contact the Client before proceeding. No additional work will be carried out without consent.

Timelines: Turnaround estimates are provided at intake and are indicative. Delays caused by parts availability or unforeseen condition findings will be communicated promptly. Horolume is not liable for losses arising from service delays.

Watch collection: Watches must be collected within 60 days of notification that the service is complete. After 60 days, a storage charge of RM 20 per week may apply. Watches left uncollected for 180 days or more will be dealt with in accordance with applicable Malaysian law.

Workmanship coverage: We cover parts we fit against defect for twelve months from the date of collection, limited to the specific components documented in the condition note. This does not cover wear from use, damage from accident, water ingress after subsequent gasket replacement, or issues unrelated to our work.

5. Client Responsibilities

6. Payment

All prices are quoted and payable in Malaysian Ringgit (RM). Payment is due on collection of the watch, unless otherwise agreed. For vintage restoration projects, a deposit of 30% of the quoted price is payable upon acceptance of the written proposal, with the balance due on collection.

Accepted payment methods: DuitNow transfers and cash at our workshop. We do not accept credit or debit card payments at this time.

If the Client declines to proceed after a preliminary inspection has been carried out, no charge applies. If the Client declines a restoration proposal after it has been accepted and a deposit paid, the deposit is non-refundable to the extent it covers costs already incurred.

7. Intellectual Property

All content on the Horolume website, including text, descriptions, layout, and documentation templates, is the property of Horolume and may not be reproduced without permission. Service records and condition notes produced for your watch are provided for your personal reference and relate to your specific piece.

8. Disclaimers

Watch repair services involve inherent variability arising from the condition of components, availability of parts, and the age of the piece. We carry out bench work to professional standards but do not undertake that any watch will achieve a specific timekeeping rate, water resistance depth, or cosmetic result beyond what is agreed in the service scope.

Vintage and antique timepieces involve additional risk. Components in aged movements may fail during service without prior external indicators of weakness. We will notify you of any such occurrence before proceeding.

Services and information provided by Horolume constitute workshop craft services. We make no health, financial, or investment claims regarding any timepiece.

9. Limitation of Liability

Horolume's liability for any claim arising from bench work is limited to the value of the service fee paid for the specific service giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for consequential, indirect, or special losses, including but not limited to loss of the watch's commercial value, loss of use, or sentimental loss.

We are not liable for losses arising from events beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, supply chain failures, or third-party actions.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify Horolume against claims, losses, or costs arising from your breach of these Terms, misrepresentation of ownership or authority, or provision of misleading information at intake.

11. Termination of Engagement

Either party may withdraw from a service engagement prior to bench work commencing, with no charge to the Client. Once bench work has commenced, withdrawal by the Client does not entitle them to a refund of any deposit paid, and a partial fee may apply proportionate to work completed.

Horolume reserves the right to decline or discontinue a service where the watch condition, undisclosed modifications, or other factors make it inappropriate to continue.

12. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Any dispute shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia. We encourage Clients to contact us directly in the first instance to resolve any concern, as most issues can be addressed promptly through direct communication.

For consumer complaints, the Tribunal for Consumer Claims Malaysia is available as an alternative dispute resolution mechanism for claims within its statutory jurisdiction.

13. General Provisions

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version will always be available on our website with a revised "Last Updated" date. Continued engagement with our services after changes are published constitutes acceptance.
